Monday 18th June-Friday 22nd June

Home Learning

The children have received a note in their Reading Journal saying that i am not expecting home learning next week due to our residential. I would like them to produce their final two pieces of home learning this year and hand them in to me by Thursday 12th July.

Reading this week has been rather difficult to do as a class this week as so many of us have been out for transition and then our wonderful trip to Ipswich so I have asked the children to take home their book if necessary and complete Good Night Mister Tom on their own.

There were no new spellings this week due to trips and assessments taking place.

Thank you to Clifford Road Primary and Martlesham Heath Tower for a great day. We have learnt loads and we really enjoyed our experience. The children will have these photos and a few more to have in their topic book to remember their day.

NEXT WEEK (MONDAY 25TH JUNE) BAWDSEY MANOR RESIDENTIAL! Please check out the blog every night next week to see what we have been doing that day.

Good Night Mister Tom
Chapters 15 and 16

This week we have read chapters 15 and 16. In these chapters we have learnt about William going back home to London to live with his mother and then Tom’s experiences of travelling to London when he hasn’t heard from William and decides to visit. When he arrives, he ends up saving him from William’s abusive mother.

These are the words we have looked at this week. We have also practiced our inference and retrieval skills, answering some questions on these two chapters.

Spelling for this week we have practice are:
1.     Dictionary
2.    Disastrous
3.    Embarrass

Please make sure you continue to practice at home.

Good Night Mister Tom
Friday 25th May
This week we have read two chapters. In these chapters, we have learnt about William and his friends practicing a play (Christmas Carol) with Miss Thorne. William has been given the part of the Scrooge. This was a surprising character for William to play according to his friends.

As we approach half way through the book, we have learnt more and more about the characters and we have realised there is a lot more detail in the book to the film

Happy Half Term
