                                                             Welcome back to Autumn 2020

Class 4 have settled back into school really well in the last few days. It has been really good to see everyone again.

Thursday, we started off our day with some P.E. It was great to see Mr Sanders again. He warmed the class up with a run around our back field and then we used hockey sticks and balls to play a few warm up games and get our hand eye co ordination back to where we left off. We then spent the rest of the P.E lesson playing some tennis with a partner. We all came back into class feeling like we had a really good workout. We do have pictures of our lesson. Mrs Jenkins will add them next week when she has checked photo permissions. As we are in our P.E kit all day, it might be worth children bringing in a spare T-shirt and possibly deodorant so they feel fresh for the rest of the day.

The rest of Thursday and Friday was spent with Mrs Jenkins, Mrs Milne and Mrs Bentley in the classroom. We did a little bit of maths, playing lots of games to warm our brains up. In English we wrote a little bit about ourselves, telling everyone what our favourite things are and what we most like to do. Some of us said what we would like to do as a profession when we are older. We also spent some time thinking about our school rules and discussing our new rules of how we will keep safe, protecting everyone from the virus.

Our new topic is Water, Water, Everywhere. We are starting to look at rivers and then we will move on to coasts. This week we each made a 3D fish to hang on the wall and we started to learn a little bit about where rivers are located round the world. Next week our parent letter will be sent out to let you know a little more about our topic and other subjects we will be covering. We will also send you a copy of our Knowledge Organisers. In the future we hope to send letters via email so please make sure we have your up to date email address on our school system.

Homework will start from next week. We will add new work on a Friday and we expect work to be returned by the following Friday. We hope to use Google Classroom unless this is not possible for you and then we will provide paper copies. Please make sure this week you try logging on to the classroom again so you are ready for next Friday. If you are Year 5 you should have an invitation when you log on to Class 4. Please let us know ASAP if you can not access Class 4.

Reading books have been sent home this Friday. We will not be sending reading journals as we are trying not to send too much home or children having to bring things into school as this is another way we can spread the virus. Instead we ask you to read everyday and then each morning as the children come into school they will have their diaries on their desks and they can record the nights or weekends reading. If parents wish to write comments then please do so on a piece of paper and then your child can stick them in their journal. When books come back to school, we have a box where they will be quarantined for 72 hours before returning to our shelves.

If you child has any medication, please make sure we have an in date one in school. Thank you.

Well done for a super first two days back and we look forward to the next few weeks.

Mrs Jenkins ☺

Summer 1 2020

Home Schooling Work-Summer 1 2020

We are really proud of how everyone has been working over these difficult weeks. Attached are a few photos of some of the work that has been done by Class 4.

In English we have had some brilliant writing this term, including: biography, autobiography and writing your own myths. Unfortunately they are too big to attach but hopefully you can show off your writing to your friends and family.

In Maths we have been following the White Rose work. The work we have seen has been carefully worked out and presented well with lots of correct answers. We have also been getting quicker at our times tables on Times Table Rock Stars.

The Science, PHSE, Topic, Art, Food for Thought this term has been brilliant too, you really are stars for working so hard.

We would like to say a special mention to Carleigh, Reuben, George, Nick, Saskia, Francesca and Connor for consistently working hard every week and handing in some superb pieces of work. We have also had some lovely pieces of work from Oliver, Digby, Vincent and Kyley. We also know that there has been more work going on at home that hasn't been attached to the classroom or emailed to us so a big well done to all those who have been working hard this term. Thank you and keep up the good work.

HAPPY HALF TERM. KEEP WELL AND SAFE

Hello Class 4!

Tuesday 24th March

Hello, I don't know if anyone is reading this as it has been a while since our last post. I understand from Mrs Bowles that everyone is set up with Google Classroom. I hope you are enjoying using it. I am waiting for John (our IT consultant) to set me up with a log in and then I will be able to add activities and see what everyone has been up to. If anyone would like to add photos or comment on here of what you have been up to, it would be a nice way of communicating with each other. I hope you are all keeping safe and being good for your families at this difficult time in the world. Enjoy the sunshine and stay positive. Hopefully I will hear from some of you soon.

Take Care
Mrs Jenkins

Below are some popular local places to visit that unfortunately we are unable to in these difficult times. Hopefully soon we will be able to go soon and form some fond memories but for now we have these beautiful pictures to look at. You may even want to have a go at drawing or writing a story using one of the scenes as your story setting. Also, can you tell me where they are?

Congratulations
Mrs and Mr Jenkins from us all! Tabitha Jasmine was born this morning and is a gorgeous baby, as beautiful as her name. Mrs Jenkins and Tabitha are both doing well.

Class 4 recorded themselves singing Happy Birth-day and cheering which was filmed and emailed straight to Mrs Jenkins who had been in contact with the staff early this morning. They then spent the afternoon making lovely cards for her which have been posted.

Beautiful baby congratulations cards for Mrs Jenkins

We are going to have a gentle week this week, with no homework or spellings to be given to Year 6 as it is a heavy week the following week with the statutory SATs tests. Year 5 homework and spellings will resume as normal I’m afraid.

The Sats papers next week are as follows:-
Monday May 13th          Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling
Tuesday May 14th          Reading Test (Comprehension)
Wednesday May 15th     Arithmetic Paper 1 before break, Reasoning (problem solving)                                              paper 2 after break
Thursday May 16th        Reasoning Paper 3

Mr Rollings is fully recovered and back in school today J After a morning of reminding ourselves about fractions and coordinating conjunctives with Year 6 and exciting archaeology with Year 5, Class 4 spent the afternoon investigating microbes in science.
Sats breakfast for Year 6 will be Monday –Thursday from 8am. Cereal, bacon rolls and toast, keeping our energy and spirits up!

Easter Holidays Home Learning
There is no set holiday home learning for this Easter. Make sure you relax and enjoy yourselves with your families and friends. If you want to keep your brain ticking over during the holidays, don’t forget Times Table Rock Stars or Discovery Espresso. Key Stage 2 Bitesize revision website is also good. Any calculation or arithmetic speed practice will also help when it comes to your SATs next term. I always recommend a good book over the holidays.
Happy Easter and Happy holidays. I know you will all be fantastic next term. I look forward to bringing in my baby and hearing what you have been up to.
All the best!
Mrs Jenkins

Grow your own Sunflower

As a leaving present to you, I would like to give you some sunflower seeds to grow. I know you will look after them (as you are experts) and hopefully you will enjoy watching them grow. You may want to have a competition with other children in the class to see whose flowers get the tallest. Sunflowers are one of my favourite flowers, they make me smile and I hope they do the same for you. I have really enjoyed teaching you and I hope to see you all soon.
Best wishes and Happy Easter.
From Mrs Jenkins

Finally, a big thank you for a lovely last day and for all my beautiful gifts.
See you all soon.

Happy Holidays!
