Monday 29th October-Friday 2nd November
Year 6 went to Crucial Crew today. They learnt how to keep healthy, safe and how to help other if they are hurt or needing the emergency services. The children came back full of enthusiasm and they seemed to enjoy their morning. They particularly liked the goody bag they got to take home!
Sorry for the lack of pictures, Mrs Jenkins' camera's battery went during the morning.
Class 4 had great fun, drawing a picture of the Explorer 'Ernest Shackleton.' We are going to be reading his story next week of how he and his crew were the first to discover and go to Antarctica.

We have been reminding ourselves of the spelling rules for
changing a word from singular to plural. We found that there were a few and we
have recorded these in our English books. We are now using those rules to help
us spell any plurals we come across. The two we need to remember for the words
below are: most nouns you add a s and when the singular ends in a y, you take
the y off and add ies.
Spellings
for this week:
1.
Competition becomes Competitions
2.
Category-Categories
3.
Identity-Identities
4.
Muscle-Muscles
5.
Soldier-Soldiers
Reading
this Week
In class this week, we have finished our class book from last
term, ‘A Boy, A Bear and a Boat.’ All the children have read aloud in class
using this text. We have discussed new words and we have summarised at the end
of each reading session what has happened. This is a book that Class 4
recommends reading if you are of a similar age. Next week, we will begin our
new class book, ‘Shackleton’s Journey,’ by William Grill.
A new home learning list was given out to the children this week. Please make sure their first piece of home learning is completed by next Thursday 8th November.
Next week: Remembrance Parade on Thursday 8th November. 10:30am until 11:15am approx
Children will be going down to the war memorial in the village to attend a short service and a minutes silence will be completed. Please feel free to join us if you wish.
Sunday 11th November- Wenhaston Village Hall are unveiling the art work the children in Class 4 completed at the beginning of the academic year. All welcome to attend this ceremony. The children were given an invitation before half term from the organisers of the event. I believe it will start about 10:30am so that everyone is there for the silence at 11am and then the unveiling will take place. Will Harvey in the Village will be able to give you more details if your invitation has been lost.
Have a good weekend and enjoy the fireworks if you go to any.
