Monday 15th October-Thursday 18th December

Well done to Class 4 for all their hard work this half term. We have had some great Maths and  English lessons as well as some lovely Music, French, PSHE, P.E, DT, Science and Geography lessons. Thank you to all the children who have produced some fantastic work at home too! This term, we have been lucky enough to have the professional musicians in school, created some 3D art work down at the village hall, (Ready for 100yrs memorial WW1), been down to the church for our Harvest Festival as well as going down to the river for our own boat ride with Dani Chalker. It has been a wonderful and busy start to the year and I look forward to next half term.

These pictures are of children performing their sea shanty renditions of 'My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean.'

Spellings this week: Please make sure you continue to learn these at home
Double Consonant Rule
Remember: short vowel (a, e, i, o, u) and then it is followed by a double letter. A short vowel is when it makes the sound of the letter (phoneme) and not the letter name.
1.     Accommodate
2.    Apparent
3.    Appreciate
4.    Accompany
5.    According
There will be no set home learning over half term. However, please encourage your child to continue reading and practicing times tables as these are essential for the Maths we do after half term. Thank you!

Next week: Christmas Play auditions on Monday, during lunch time.
Please also bring back Crucial Crew letters (Year 6) and Parents Evening slips for your preferred time slot.

Monday 1st October-Friday 5th October

Monday we made a river on the playground, using soil, pebbles and sand. We then poured water down it to see how it flowed.

Thursday, during our music lesson, we worked in pairs to sing and play using the notes provided, 'My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean.' Below are some pictures of us practicing.

Friday 5th October
Spellings this week: Please make sure you continue to learn these at home
Homophones
Homophones are words that sound the same but are spelt differently and have different meanings. The children have looked up definitions this week and then tried to use them appropriately in their own sentences. If you remember the definition, you should use them correctly, then you just need to spell them too! There are lots in our English language. Here are just a few to practice.
1.     There/their
2.    Aloud/allowed
3.    Affect/effect
4.    Steel/steal
5.    Bridal/bridle

Next week: Sponsored Silence (Monday 8th Oct) Please bring in sponsorship money to Immi for the Epilepsy charity she is raising money for.
