Blyth Woods

We planted oak trees at Grove Piece

An interesting mushroom we found on our way up to Grove Piece.

Thank you to everyone who helped!

There is even a pond now!

Fabulous team work in Maths over the last few days.

P.E with Mr Saunders

Thursday we compared two sets of fractions using strips of paper and bar modelling.

Friday we ordered 5 different fractions using the strips of paper and bar modelling.

This method helped us as all the fractions had different denominators!

The whole class produced some lovely posters and we worked well together. Mrs Jenkins was very proud of us all.

Friday 23rd November
There is no particular rule that we have learnt this week. We have been focusing on the statutory words set that we need to learn by the end of year 6.
Spellings this week are:
1.     Definite
2.    Desperate
3.    Develop
4.    Dictionary
5.    Embarrass
Reading
This week we have continued reading our book on Ernest Shackleton. We have also been reading our own books and discussing in detail the poem, ‘Grannie.’ This is a text from the 2018 SATs paper. The children read the poem together and then we discussed the meaning of each verse. Finally, we discussed the meaning of unknown words like lavishly, circumstance and vividly and answered some questions about the poem.

Well done to Tom for getting a Star Award this week for winning in the finals at his old schools multi sports tournament held in London!

Well done to Molly for also getting a Star Award for raising £182 for Children in Need last Saturday at her Bring and Buy Sale. Molly arranged the whole thing.

Have a good weekend!
